Okay, so the subtitle is a bit off, but it reads better, don’t you think? Seriously, though, we have been thrilled and delighted with all the comments, questions, concerns, and more questions people have asked about not only us and our breeding program, but about puppies in general. The more you ask, the more we learn about how we can better serve our families and tweak our program based on your suggestions and comments.
Because there is so much to cover and because we’re always evolving, this will be the first in a series which we’ll continue throughout the summer. Also, we have so many puppies heading to their forever homes, we want the next wave of puppy love and new families to be as well prepared as our upcoming families are. Plus, if you’ve got questions, we’ve got answers. So, let’s start at the beginning.
What is a Golden Cavalier?
Our golden cavaliers are ½ Golden Retriever and ½ Ruby Red Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
Do You Raise Goldendoodles?
We did raise goldendoodles briefly, but realized we were a small fish in a very large pond. So, rather than compete, we decided to try a triple specialty crossbreed. Golden Cavadoodles.
What is a Golden Cavadoodle?
A golden cavadoodle (also known as Golden Cavapoo or Golden Cavoodle) is a mix between a golden retriever, a cavalier, and a poodle. In our program this year, our first litter of golden cavadoodles were ½ Cavalier x 1/2 mini goldendoodle. So, the makeup of her pups broken down are ½ cavalier x ¼ golden retriever x ¼ mini poodle.
Our next litter of golden cavadoodles is estimated to be born October 7th with a go-home date of December 2nd. This will be a pairing of our golden cavalier mother x mini poodle. So, her pups will be ½ poodle x ¼ golden retriever x ¼ cavalier.
Does a Golden Cavadoodle Have the Same Coat as a Golden Cavalier?
Well, they do and they don’t. Each golden cavadoodle litter has a mix of silky spaniel (more cavalier-ish wavy/straight coats) and fluffy poodle coats. Though, no golden cavadoodle is going to have the Pepe LePew tight French poodle curls, you might think about when you think about poodles.
How Do I Reserve a Puppy?
This is a quick 3-step process and includes:
- Fill out our online questionnaire or arrange a quick interview phone call. For your convenience, you can download the questionnaire here.
- Once the questionnaire is received and reviewed and/or the call conducted, we’ll let you know if you’re approved to move forward. And to guarantee your space on a litter list, these next two steps are very important.
- Completed and send in your Buyer’s Agreement and at the same time send in your deposit. Details on the Buyer’s Agreement, downloadable here, explain how to send in the deposit.
Hey, You Said Something About Golden Cavaliers Evolving…So, What Are You Doing?
Over the course of the summer, we’ll be increasing our Gallery photos with our mother dogs, also known as Dams and their Sires as well as pups from previous litters. And of course, pics from the farm. Though we know many of you follow some of our pups on Instagram.
We’re also working on a YouTube channel with video of our farm, our breeding program, and more. Working on a few more surprises there, but hope to have something up by mid-June…right about the time Molly’s pups head to their forever homes.
Thanks to a request from one of our earlier families, we’ve also begun conducting Early Neurological Stimulation techniques to improve socialization of our puppies. Look for a detailed post about this topic in the coming months.
In the coming months, we’ll be adding a new building for our dogs. New pups are raised, for their first few weeks, away from everyone in the whelping barn until they’re strong enough to play with the other dogs.
These are just a few of the things we’re putting into place to continue to raise the bar for our pups, our program, and our pet parent families.
Cool Stuff!
We’re really excited there’s so much interest from our international friends. While, unfortunately, we don’t yet have anything in place to transport or conduct a breeding program overseas, we can always recommend ideas. And if we are ever able to open satellite programs, you’ll be the first to know!
It’s occurred to us now that this reads more like a newsletter than a blog post. Oh well!
We know we’ve barely scratched the surface with what you want to know about Golden Cavaliers, our program, upcoming improvements, and more. So, stay tuned, so to speak. Next month, we’ll talk about how we’re raising the bar for our area and how we got started. Plus, random history that’s just fun to know!
Hint: It’s all in the legacy of family.
And Finally, A Special Thank You to Our Families
We are so thrilled that each of our mother dogs, sire, and pups are so well loved both virtually and soon to be in face-to-cuddly face. See you in June, July, September, and December!
